About the foundation
Mundo Sano foundation is an international non-profit organization engaged in the research and prevention of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). CHEMO channels its social investment through this foundation, whose origin can be traced back to the Group’s family history.
Areas and Projects
Since its inception in 1993, Mundo Sano has been developing and managing intervention models with public-private collaboration, based on technology transfer to the communities affected and the most socially vulnerable endemic areas. Today, Mundo Sano carries out 42 programs in endemic and vulnerable areas of Argentina, with the mission to prevent and control diseases including Dengue fever, Chagas, Malaria, Leishmaniasis and soil-transmitted Helminthiasis.
Access to Healthcare
Mundo Sano is part of an international coalition that coordinates the world’s largest project to control neglected diseases. This global alliance is led by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in a bid to coordinate efforts to speed up the control and elimination of 10 Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). The alliance works in support of World Health Organization (WHO) targets and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) set out by the UN for 2020. In addition, Mundo Sano has coordinated a scientific, manufacturing and commercial effort to enable production of Benznidazol, a drug for Chagas disease.
